PURPOSE: An exhaust system of a vehicle is provided to prevent damage of a catalyst of an adsorption catalytic unit for a long driving at high temperature by protecting the adsorption catalytic unit from the exhaust gas of high temperature in high load of an engine. CONSTITUTION: A precatalyst(10), an adsorption catalytic unit(12), and a three-way catalytic unit(14) of an exhaust system for a vehicle are mounted on an exhaust pipe line(1) connected with an exhaust manifold of an engine. The adsorption catalytic unit is protected from the exhaust gas of high temperature by passing the exhaust gas discharged through the exhaust pipe line in an overload operation of the engine through the precatalyst, bypassing the adsorption catalytic unit, and supplying the exhaust gas to the three-way catalytic unit. The adsorption catalytic unit is installed at a bypass pipe line(3) branched off from the exhaust pipe line after the precatalyst and before the three-way catalytic unit.
