摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for driving an LCD having plural gray scale voltages are provided to improve a responding speed of an intermediate gray scale by boosting a gray scale voltage when a difference between present image data and prior image data is less than a setup value. CONSTITUTION: An image signal processor is used for processing present image data on the basis of a difference between present image data and prior image data and generating a control signal thereby. A gray scale voltage generator is used for generating plural gray scale voltages. The gray scale voltage generator includes a selector for selecting one of a first gray scale voltage and a second gray scale voltage according to the control signal of the image signal processor. A data driver is used for applying a gray scale voltage used as a data voltage to a pixel. An absolute value of a difference between the second gray scale voltage and a common voltage is larger than an absolute value of a difference between the first gray scale voltage and the common voltage. The image signal processor transmits the control signal to select the first or the second gray scale voltage.
