A device incorporates at least one type of conjugate polymer, functioning as an electron donor structure, and at least one tubular nanostructure in the form of macroscopic fibres, functioning as an electron acceptor structure. Independent claims are also included for: (a) the fabrication of this device; (b) a device incorporating the tubular nanostructure device and forming a two part active fibre; (c) the fabrication of this two part active fibre device; (d) a photovoltaic cell incorporating the tubular nanostructure device or the two part active fibre device; (e) the production of electricity from an electromagnetic wave using either of the devices.
