PURPOSE: An emergency opening device of a trunk lid of a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent a person from being locked in the trunk room by forcibly unlocking a trunk lid if the person in the trunk room kicks the trunk lid. CONSTITUTION: An emergency opening device of a trunk lid of a vehicle comprises a strain gauge(10) prepared in a trunk lid to sense the degree and direction of load, a locking assembly(20) prepared in a vehicle body to lock or unlock the trunk lid, a drive unit(30) operating the locking assembly to open the trunk lid, and a control unit outputting a control signal to the drive unit according to the signal of the strain gauge.
