OPTICAL MODULE, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, OPTICAL COMMUNICATION DEVICE, AND ELECTRONIC APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of being made low in cost.

SOLUTION: An optical fiber (2) is freely inserted into and extracted from an optical module (1). The optical module (1) is provided with a board (10) that has a hole (11) to which the optical fiber (2) is to be inserted, a flexible printed board (13) and an optical element (12). The flexible printed board (13) includes a base material (14) to which an opening section (20) is provided at the position where the hole (11) is faced, a wiring film (15) which is arranged at least one side of the base material (14) and a connecting section (21) which is arranged on the opening section (20) so that a portion of the wiring film (15) is exposed. The flexible printed board (13) is arranged at one surface side of the board (10). The optical element (12) is arranged within the opening section (20) of the flexible printed board (13), connected to the connecting section (21) and transmits and receives optical signals to and from the optical fiber (2).
