METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING RELAY OF MEDIA STREAM CROSSING NETWORK BOUNDARY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a media session for a media stream crossing a network boundary.

SOLUTION: A media relay reserves a media path, opens the media path, closes the media path and provides information about the media path. A media configurator is so structured as to communicate with a media configurator control module and the media relay. The control module has: an event handler for handling a multimedia session event; a local address resolver for determining whether the address identifier of the media session belongs to a private address space or not; and a control element used for establishing the media path. The control element controls a resource of the media relay. A status refresh timer is used for keeping consistency of a state between all the media relays controlled by a proxy engine and the control element.
