PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minutely transfer each optical fiber linearly and accurately only in one desired direction, for the purpose of performing in a short time an aligning operation of two optical fibers to be connected. SOLUTION: The aligning base 50a for transferring in the X-axis direction the exposed fiber 10a of an optical fiber to be connected is composed of a V groove 60a, a movable body 62a, an upper bellows section 56a, a lower bellows section 58a, a fixed body 64a, an actuator 70a, and a nut 74a. The feed screw 72a of the actuator 70a has the same axial direction as the X-axis. The upper and lower bellows sections 56a, 58a are freely expandable/contractible in the X-axis direction. Consequently, with the feed screw 72a turned, the nut 74a screwed onto the feed screw 72a and the movable body 62a penetrated by the feed screw 72a in the center are integrally transferred in the X-axis direction, so that the V groove 60a in which the exposed fiber 10a is set is minutely transferred stably in the X-axis direction only.
