PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of favorably drying garbage while reducing the time required for drying the garbage. SOLUTION: The apparatus is so configured as to promote drying the garbage by rotating stirring blades 32 at a low speed not to scatter the garbage when the garbage contains much water therein and tends to adhere to the inside surface of a treatment tank 21. When the garbage goes on drying, gradually reducing the water content, the garbage does not tend to adhere to the inside surface of the treatment tank 21, even if scattered. Then the apparatus starts rotating the stirring blades 32 at a high speed to scatter the garbage to promote drying the garbage by increasing the contact probability between the garbage and hot air, thereby favorably drying the garbage while reducing the time for drying.
