PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic dictionary capable of operating a jump when the equally shaped letter is inputted regardless of whether the letter is a Japanese letter or a Chinese letter. SOLUTION: This electronic dictionary is provided with a selection means selecting and designating an optional kanji letter from letters displayed in a display device and a collation means collating the letter to determine whether there is an equally shaped letter belonging to Japanese or Chinese or not. Regardless of whether the kanji selected by the selection means is a Japanese letter or a Chinese letter, when the collation means determines that there is the equally shaped letter belonging to either of Japanese or Chinese, contents of an entry word of both languages having the equally shaped kanji are displayed.
