The press cushion (1) is a woven material with metal warp filaments (2) and weft filaments (3) at least partially of a polymer material with a high temperature resistance. The polymer material of the filaments has a gas content of at least 1% and preferably at least 10%. The weft filaments with a gas content are multifilament core filaments (4) of twisted polymer filaments. The gas pockets (7) are formed during extrusion or by immersion, containing an inert gas e.g. CO2 or N2.
