<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make uniform the capacity of each unit cell in a bipolar secondary battery in which a plurality of unit cells are connected in series. <P>SOLUTION: When the bipolar secondary battery (38) is heated up to a certain temperature or more by heaters (42A, 42B), the resistance value of a PTC layer in the current collector constituting the unit cell becomes so high that it can be regarded as an insulator. Therefore, the unit cells which have been connected in series are mutually separated. On the other hand, when it is detected by a temperature sensor (43) that the bipolar secondary battery is heated up to a certain temperature or more, a capacity regulating controller (45) turns on the switches (26, 27) connected to the bipolar secondary battery. When the switches are turned on, the positive electrode layers or negative electrode layers of the current collectors connected to the switches are connected by a positive electrode layer parallelization circuit (30) or a negative electrode layer parallelization circuit (31), and each unit cell is connected in parallel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
