PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper extension method for an existing building minimizing the range and amount of reinforcing work to reduce construction cost and to shorten the construction period by carrying out reinforcing work for the long-term vertical load of an extension part convergently only on the core part of the existing building, in addition to saving labor for most of aseismatic reinforcing work for an increase in stress in case of an earthquake. SOLUTION: The core part of the existing building is reinforced to bear the long-term vertical load of the extension part, and core part columns of the extension part are connected. Beams and slabs of the extension part are constructed as a hanging frame cantilevered to the core part of the extension part.
