PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker wherein a handle lever is easily journaled to a frame, and the handle does not move to an OFF position even if force is forcibly applied in an OFF direction when a contact is welded. SOLUTION: This circuit breaker has engagement parts 48, 49 whereby a handle lever 1 is engaged with the cross bar 8 when rotating the handle 12 in the off direction with a movable contact 28 welded to a fixed contact 33 to prevent the off-operation of the handle 12, and a movement preventing part to prevent the handle lever 1 from moving to the frame 2 against a tension spring 7 with the engagement parts 48, 49 as fulcrums, if the handle 12 is further off-operated under the engaged condition of the engagement parts 48, 49.
