PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate downloading of reference information to an information terminal device. SOLUTION: An embedded code embedded in document data, reference information screen-displayed to a client by scanning an image embedded with the embedded code on a paper sheet, a page ID for identifying a page embedded with the embedded code, a document ID for identifying a document including the page, and a book ID for identifying a book including the document are correlated and registered in a management table 12 of a server 1 by a registration function processing part 16 in cooperation with the client. The embedded code and a reading unit (a hierarchy group) are designated in a reading request sent from the client. A reading function processing part 14 reads all the embedded codes belonging to the same hierarchy group (page, document or book) as the embedded code designated in the reading request, and the reference information correlated to the embedded code from the management table 12, and sends them back to the client.
