The pre-emphasis method determines a mean power for the optical multiplex signal (OS) at the transmission side, with new signal values calculated from the actual signal powers at the transmitter and the receiver together with the mean power and set at the transmission side for obtaining similar signal/noise ratios for all signals at the reception side.
