PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus that has a high degree of freedom and can drive by freely selecting a road that a drive intends while recognizing a recommended route, and to provide a navigation method. SOLUTION: When an own vehicle position 22 departs from the recommended route 21, a route wherein a vehicle can drive from the own vehicle position 22 to the recommended route 21 after the departure is searched, the recommended route 21 to the recommended route 21 is displayed on a map, and marks 27a, 27b, 27c in the route wherein the vehicle can advance that can return to the recommended route 21 are displayed on the map. Additionally, when the own vehicle position 22 deviates from the recommended route 21 at least by a specified distance, a recommended route is searched again from the own vehicle position 22 to a target arrival point, and a recommended route 29 that is searched again is displayed on the map.
