PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a power level of a signal after being amplified while enhancing the power efficiency of signal amplification. SOLUTION: A digital modulation section 11 and a quadrature modulation section 14 generate a modulation signal according to one modulation system selected from the CCK system or the OFDM system. A power amplifier 20 receives the modulation signal via variable gain circuits 16, 19 and amplifies the modulation signal. A control section 21 controls a bias point of the power amplifier 20 corresponding to the selected modulation system. Further, the control section 21 controls the gain of the variable gain circuits 16, 19 in order to compensate a gain change in the power amplifier 20 attended with control of the bias point of the power amplifier 20.
