An apparatus for obtaining homogeneous piles of signatures (3) from heterogeneous piles (4) comprising conveyor belts (7, 12), a device (1, 2) suitable for picking up one signature (3) from a pile (4) and for conveying it toward the conveyor belts (7, 12), and identification means (8) connected to a control device which controls groups of deviating means (15) for the signatures (3) arranged at correspondent containers (16) for collecting signatures (3) of the same type and functionally connected to said control device.
