The connecting element for the construction of a modular display and exhibition stand system comprises a metal cube (1) which is grooved on all sides. Metal tubes (3-5) fit into the grooves (2) and are fastened by screws (6) which pass through elongated holes. The metal tubes have sealing plugs on their ends, whereby the sealing plugs have female threads for the attachment of various objects such as wall elements, diagonal braces, running wheels, plaque holders, flag holders or contact rails for projectors.
