The oval base is positioned directly on top of the area between the two arms of the stapes. Two perforations or recesses located at the base are filled with blood facilitating a rapid connection to the area below. Two thin cylindrical elements are positioned on top of the base. The flexible connection to the shaft compensates post-operative changes in the tissue and prevents the implant from moving. The pre-tensioning of the elements prevents the creation of a clinking phenomenon.
