Thermoplastic moulding compositions based on A) polyesters and B) polyphenylene ethers, characterised by a content of C) from 0.1 to 40% by weight, based on the sum of A, B and C, of a copolymer comprising c1) from 40 to 99.9 mol % of a vinylaromatic monomer, c2) from 0.1 to 60 mol % of a compound of the formula (I) <IMAGE> wherein R<1> is -OH, alkoxy, aryloxy, aralkoxy or alkylaryloxy having up to 25 carbon atoms or, together with R<4> is -NR<5>-, R<2> is -H or, if R<3> is -H, is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl having up to 25 carbon atoms or chlorine, R<3> is -H or, if R<2> is -H, is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl having up to 25 carbon atoms or chlorine, R<4> is alkoxy, aryloxy, aralkoxy or alkylaryloxy having up to 25 carbon atoms or, together with R<1>, is -NR<5>-, and R<5> is hydrogen or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl group having up to 12 carbon atoms which itself may be substituted by C1-C4-alkyl or -alkoxy groups, and c3) from 0 to 20 mol % of further copolymerisable monomers, and the preparation and use thereof.k
