PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to reduce a focus deviation of red, green and blue of an image and improve brightness characteristic by controlling external light reflectivity of a red phosphor to be higher than external light reflectivity of a blue phosphor and controlling light transmissivity of a coating film formed on the outer face of a panel to be higher in a red region than in a blue region. CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube includes a panel, a funnel, an electron gun, a deflecting device, and a shadow mask. A screen is formed on the inner side of the panel. The funnel is attached to the back side of the panel. The electron gun is inserted into the neck of the funnel and emits electron beams to the screen. The deflecting device deflects the electron beams to display images. The shadow mask is located having a predetermined distance from the screen. Reflectivity of a red phosphor used for forming the screen is higher than reflectivity of a blue phosphor. Transmissivity of a coating film formed on the outer face of the panel is higher in a red region than in a blue region.
