<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transceiver system and a receiver which can reduce a wait time for a user to the utmost by shortening a period until a packet signal is converted into a video signal output when radio transmission is started, e.g., when a system in a radio transmission system such as a video system is started. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitting apparatus 10 converts a video signal into a packet signal and transmits the obtained signal by radio. In a receiver 20, the received packet signal is transferred to an error deciding circuit 22. In the ordinary error determination circuit 22, an error of the received packet signal is detected. However, as far as a system start is concerned, the upper limit value of the number of times of requesting re-transmission is changed from an ordinary upper limit value (N) to an initiation upper limit value (n) even when any error is detected, and the number of times of re-transmission is restricted to (N>n). When even an error-including packet signal reaches the upper limit of the number of times of re-transmission, the signal is sent to a storing circuit 23. When packet signals stored in the storing circuit 23 exceed a certain fixed quantity, the error deciding circuit 22 changes the upper limit value for the number of times of requesting re-transmission from the initiation upper limit value (n) to the ordinary upper limit value (N).
