PURPOSE:To facilitate complicated operations for setting and changing linear density when a picture is inputted by recognizing the optimum linear density of picture information read by a scanner, converting the picture information to the linear density and recording the information to a display picture information storage part in a high definition display. CONSTITUTION:A linear density decision part 6 collates the white-black inversion frequency of the input picture with the white-black inversion frequency, which is judged optimum by an operator in the past, and the statistics of the reading linear density and recognizes the optimum reading linear density. Then, the picture information are converted to the linear density on a memory with a linear density converting part 7 and displayed on the display. Even when the change of the linear density is generated by the visual confirmation by eyes of the operator, the information is converted to the linear density on the memory. Thus, labor is saved for operating and reinputting the linear density changeover switch of a scanner and especially, when the plural input pictures of the different linear density are registered, the pictures are inputted with the uniformly high linear density. Then, the storage area of the picture information storage part can be effectively utilized without being uselessly wasted with the high linear density. |
