ELECTROSTATIC ATOMIZATION DEVICE AND AIR CLEANER PROVIDED WITH THIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To require no maintenance and to give no influence to continuous operation for a long period of time.

SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomization device is constituted by a water storage part 1; a conveying body 2 comprising a porous body and conveying water in the water storage part 1; a water application electrode 4 for applying a voltage to water; a counter electrode 3 arranged at a position opposed to the conveying body; and a voltage application part 5 for applying a high voltage between the water application electrode and the counter electrode. In the electrostatic atomization device, characteristic of the high voltage applied between the water application voltage and the counter electrode is negative and the conveying body comprises porous ceramic having an equipotential point charged to negative at the pH value of water. Thereby, when water flows to a counter electrode direction in the porous ceramic by a capillary phenomenon, an electro-osmosis flow is generated in a capillary tube in the porous ceramic. Mineral components such as Ca and Mg are not directed to a tip end opposed to the counter electrode of the conveying body by this flow.
