<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a small optical flow with a high degree of accuracy from moving images in which optical flows of different magnitudes are mixed and also to perform high speed detection of the optical flow. <P>SOLUTION: An evaluation amount calculation means 103 calculates an evaluation amount associated with the magnitude of the optical flow, and a past frame selection means 104 specifies a past image frame to be used for calculation of the optical flow based on the evaluation amount. A pixel which calculates the optical flow, calculates the optical flow using a past image frame having a long time interval from the present time of day when it is thought that the optical flow becomes small, calculates the optical flow, and calculates the optical flow using a past image frame having a short time interval from the present time of day when it is thought that the optical flow becomes large. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
