摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device in which apparent dynamic range is expanded and color change is little and to provide a direct vision type display device and a projection type display device.

SOLUTION: The display device provided with a light modulating means having a plurality of pixels and displaying an image according to an image signal is characterised by being provided with a light source with which the light modulating means is illuminated and a light source driving means controlling light quantity emitted from the light source by adjusting time during which the light source lights with a prescribed luminance per one unit time.
