PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device having a lubricating groove which can carry lubricating oil axially by the rotary force of an output shaft in a differential case which supports the output shaft and which can be manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: The lubricating groove 30 is formed in an engaging hole 14 where the output shaft is fitted in the axial direction of the groove 30 from one end thereof to another around the engaging hole 14. In the lubricating groove 30, a plane vertical to the central planar surface of a differential case 12 including the centers of axes of the engaging hole 14 and of a pinion shaft 16, and a periphery outer than the vertical plane including the intersection line of the central plane and the engaging hole 14, are set as a vertical groove portion 32 parallel to the plane vertical to the center of axis of the engaging hole 14. Thus, when a core for forming the engaging hole 14 and the lubricating groove 30 is removed from a die, a projection formed in the core to form the lubricating groove 30 does not interfere with the die.
