PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a derailleur for a bicycle easily operable by a thumb in any gripping state without bending back the hand. SOLUTION: The controller of the derailleur for a bicycle is composed of: a support 4 which is fixed to a handle 3 and gripped by a cyclist and provided with an inner side wall 4a and an outer side wall 4b that are substantially parallel with a plane of a curved end part 2 of the handle; an operating means for operating the derailleur which is controlled in two directions for controlling the derailleur in a direction of a high speed range or a direction of a low speed range; and first and second control members 8, 9; 16, 17; 18, and 19 moving the operating means in the two mutually opposite directions. Both the first and second control members are arranged in a portion of the inner side wall 4a of the support 4 which the thumb can reach when the hand of the cyclist is placed in a normal operation position.
