PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector having high performance without lowering an output, even if gamma rays are incident anywhere on the radiation detector, in which lights emitted from a plurality of scintillator groups adhesively disposed in a two-dimensional manner and emitting lights by incident gamma rays are incident to a plurality of photomultiplier tubes which are fewer than the number of scintillators via a lightguide. SOLUTION: In a lightguide L1 in this radiation detector, a light input surface LF1 from the scintillator group S1 is set to match the magnitude of the optical output surface of the scintillator group S1, and a light output surface LF2 of the coupling surface of the photomultiplier tubes K1, K2 is set in size to match the outer peripheral region optically coupled to the photoelectric surfaces of the photomuliplier tubes K1, K2. Accordingly, even if gamma rays are incident anywhere on the scintillator S, the gamma ray position can be accurately discriminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
