PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a plasma display panel from being cracked in sealing the panel, stably hold the panel level. SOLUTION: When oppositely disposing a pair of substrates (a front face substrate 2 and a rear face substrate 3) and sealing peripheral edge parts of them with sealing members 25, a sealing device 20 having a plurality of supporting posts 22 and panel holding members 23 disposed at the tip part of respective posts 22 and made of crystallized glass is used, and the peripheral edge parts are sealed while holding the panel on the holding members 23 of the sealing device 20.
