摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that is not influenced by depression to a display panel and realizes domain division with large alignment restricting power for liquid crystal, a superior visual field characteristics, and an excellent response characteristic. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 10 is provided with a pair of a TFT substrate 1 and a counter substrate 2 having a pixel electrode 12 and a counter electrode 22 on their opposite surfaces so that a liquid crystal layer 3 is sandwiched. When a voltage is applied between both the pixel electrode 12 and counter electrode 22, a plurality of domains wherein liquid crystal molecules 3a are aligned in different directions are formed in one display area. The pixel electrode 12 which is at least one of the pixel electrode 12 and counter electrode 22 of the TFT substrate 1 and counter substrate 2 has a pixel slit 12a. The counter electrode 22 which is the other electrode has a counter rib 23 in the display area. The height of the counter rib 23 is equal to the thickness of the liquid crystal layer 3.
