<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible image forming speed higher, and to improve the image formation throughput. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a plurality of image forming parts R1 to R4 for forming a developed image on an image carrier, a transfer device arranged corresponding to each image carrier so as to transfer the developed image to a recording medium S, a fixing device for fixing the transferred developed image on the recording medium S and a temperature control processing means for judging whether or not each image forming part is set and changing the set temperature of the fixing device based on the judgement result. Since the set temperature of the fixing device is set higher when the image forming part closer to the fixing device than a prescribed image forming part is not set, the warming up time can be shortened in the case where the following printing command is given in a standby state.
