PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a new dicarbamoyldicarbonic acid and its salt. SOLUTION: An alicyclic dicarbamoyldicarbononic acid represented by general formula (2) (A is a 4-20 quadrivalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group; either one of R5and R6is a carboxy group and the other thereof is a carbamoyl group; either one of R7and R8is a carboxy group and the other thereof is a carbamoyl group) or its salt is produced by reacting a dialkoxycarbonyldicarbonic acid represented by general formula (1) (A is the same as mentioned above; either one of R1and R2is a carboxy group and the other thereof is an alkoxycarbonyl group; either one of R3and R4is a carboxy group; the other thereof is an alkoxycarbonyl group) or its salt with ammonia.
