PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a network function to enable reliable mask processing by easily setting a mask region on a PC screen etc. SOLUTION: This imaging apparatus comprises an imaging unit for taking an image, a communication unit for transmitting this image to an external device and receiving control information from the external device, and a processing unit for carrying out the mask processing of the image taken by the imaging unit. When the image is displayed on the display screen of an external device and a predetermined region on the display screen is specified, region information is transmitted to the external device via the communication unit to display the predetermined region in the image, and the mask processing of the image is carried out based on the predetermined region.
