<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally attain decoding processing even on the occurrence of an error in important information such as header information by providing error robustness for a bit stream itself in an information transmission system for transmitting an image or the like subjected to compression encoding. <P>SOLUTION: A decoding apparatus used for the information transmission system for dividing encoded information into two or more layers, adding a synchronizing signal and header information required for decoding to each layer, and transmitting the resulting information, includes: a designation information discrimination circuit 121 for detecting designation information with a prescribed bit pattern from the inside of the header information; and a decoding circuit 124 for using information whose transmission is indicated by the detected designation information for a substitute as information having already been transmitted from an upper layer or part of the information, information having already been transmitted in the same layer or part of the information, or information for restoring contents of the information having already transmitted in the upper layer or the same layer or contents of the part information so as to decode the encoded information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
