PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a bar-shaped silicon nitride filler by a simple method. SOLUTION: In this method by which the bar-shaped silicon nitride filler is isolated by heat-treating silicon nitride powder in flux and repeating an alkali solution treatment and an acid solution treatment thereby dissolving the flux component, the flux component consists of a single compound or a combination of several compounds of an oxide and a nitride of an alkaline earth metal, an alkali metal or a precursor producing the above compound by thermal decomposition .
