PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt conveyor capable of dispensing with frequent maintenance even under the environment in which a large quantity of powder dust occurs and detecting abnormal high temperatures of a conveyance belt by an inexpensive facility. SOLUTION: This belt conveyor is provided with an abnormal high temperature detection means and an abnormal high temperature determining means. The abnormal high temperature detection means is provided with a guide 14 arranged just below a belt return passage 6b, extending toward the oblique direction in front of running direction of the belt return passage, and guiding air stream caused in accordance with running of the conveyance belt to the front of oblique direction and a bimetal switch 13 arranged in front of oblique direction of the guide and closed when the temperature of the air stream exceeds a predetermined temperature to output temperature information of the air stream to the abnormal high temperature determining means.
