PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a getting-on/out step device for a crawler type working machine, shifting a state in which a step opens to an outside surface of a side frame to a normal state of the step, and closing the step to the outside surface by external force when the external force is applied to the step from the outside of a traveling element. SOLUTION: The step 61 is energized in an opening direction to the outside surface 7a of the side frame 7 by a helical tension spring 64, and the step 61 is normally kept opened up to a specified angleθmax, for example 45°. Like as a case in which a rock rolling from the outside of the traveling element 3 collides with the step 61, when the external force is applied to the step 61 from the outside of the traveling element 3, the step 61 is closed to the outside surface 7a against energizing force by the helical tension spring 64.
