PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive thin line-shaped carbon electrode for living body capable of impregnating easily various catalysts or enzymes onto an electrode active face. SOLUTION: This thin line-shaped carbon electrode for living body including dispersedly graphite is formed by using at least the graphite such as natural graphite or artificial graphite and an organic binder such as a a polyvinyl chloride resin or a synthetic resin of polyvinyl alcohol or the like as main materials, and by applying thereto kneading, extrusion molding into a thin line shape, and then heat treatment up to a calcination temperature. A particle size distribution of the graphite in the thin line-shaped carbon electrode for living body is 1-400μm and the d50 value of the particle size is 10-50μm. The degree of orientation in the extrusion axis direction determined by X-ray diffraction of the graphite is 0.9 or more, and the graphite content is 80 wt.% or more to the whole thin line-shaped carbon electrode for living body, and preferably an electric insulating layer is formed on at least a part of the outer surface of the thin line-shaped carbon electrode for living body.
