PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop inertial rotation of a vertical profiling roller when a workpiece is not brought in contact with the roller, to prevent the generation of damage in a surface of the workpiece by the vertical profiling roller, and to perform stable and smooth chamfering. SOLUTION: This device 1 for machining an edge part of a workpiece is provided with a rotary blade 3 for chamfering the edge part 2a of the workpiece 2, the vertical profiling roller 5 installed in a shaft body 4 of the rotary blade 3 and for rotatably abutting on one side surface 2b of the workpiece 2 to position the rotary blade 3 in the cutting depth direction A, and an inertial rotation preventing stopper 7 for preventing inertial rotation of the vertical profiling roller 5 when the workpiece 2 is not brought in contact with the roller.
