The method involves transmitting data wirelessly taking account of channel quality by repeatedly sending channel (CH2) quality information (CGI) from receiver (R) to transmitter (S), determining a data transmission activity state in the receiver, determining the time since the last successful transmission of channel quality information and sending further channel quality information if a first activity state exists and the time exceeds a threshold.
