PURPOSE: A method and a system for supplying map information to a mobile communication terminal are provided to select map data only having a high chance of being displayed on a mobile communication terminal, and to transmit the selected data to the terminal, thereby effectively transmitting the map data. CONSTITUTION: A navigation server maintains a map information database including plural map data(301). The navigation server receives a path search request from a user terminal(302). The navigation server performs a path search by responding to the path search request(303). The navigation server retrieves map data associated with a determined path in reference to the map information database(304). The navigation server transmits the retrieved map data to a mobile communication terminal with the determined path information(305).
