ENCODING APPARATUS IN INFORMATION TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally attain decoding processing even on the occurrence of an error in important information such as header information by providing error robustness for a bit stream itself in an information transmission system for transmitting an image or the like subjected to compression encoding.

SOLUTION: A bit stream reconstruction circuit 107 adds information having already transmitted from an upper layer or part of the information, information having already been transmitted in the same layer or part of the information, or information for restoring contents of the information having already been transmitted in the upper layer or the same layer or contents of the part information to encoded information as restoration information to decode the encoded information by an encoding circuit 103 and thereafter uses a designation information insertion circuit 106 to insert designation information with a prescribed bit pattern denoting the addition of the restoration information into the header information.
