Dye-containing shaped body with delayed dye release comprises: (a) a water-soluble thermoplastic polymer; (b) an ionic salt that does not complex the polymer; (c) a textile-coloring or color-refreshing dye with at least two ionic groups that reversibly complex the polymer; and (d) a dye-adsorbing particulate carrier. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) product comprising one or preferably several shaped bodies as above; (B) producing the shaped bodies by combining the polymer, salt and dye (which has at least two anionic groups) and either forming the shaped bodies, preferably spheres, capsules, films, particles, agglomerates or powder, especially by extrusion and/or heat treatment; or diluting the mixture with water, adding the mixture dropwise to an aqueous alkaline bath and removing and drying the resulting shaped bodies; or forming the mixture into a film by casting, rolling and/or extrusion.
