PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and an image forming apparatus having the image reader which reads bills, securities, etc. under the condition that they cannot be used as valuables. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 1 a decider 12 decides whether an image under reading process is valuable in parallel to an image reading operation of a reader 11. If the read image is decided to be a valuable, aγ-unit 14 changes the reading characteristics of Green signals, usingγcurve data for valuables, resulting in the conversion from the brightness level to the lightness level. Lightness-converted image data are converted to Cyan, Magenta and Yellow colors, and only the writing start position of the magenta image data is shifted in the Y-direction by a specified quantity. A printer 30 forms an image based on the image data and the writing start position, transfers it on a printing paper, and outputs it after thermal fixation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
