PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner in which an air intake is formed not only on the front face but also on the side face and an ultrasonic wave-used human movement sensing sensor and an ultrasonic dust collecting function are realized at a low cost. SOLUTION: This air cleaner has an automatic operation mode using the human movement sensing sensor and is used for cleaning the air sucked from the air intake. The air intake is formed on at least two surfaces of a main body of this air filter, namely, on the front face (the air intake 9a) and the side face (the air intake 9c). An ultrasonic wave sending/receiving element 18 for sending/receiving an ultrasonic wave as the human movement sensing sensor is arranged so that the element 18 can be rotated and faced to the two faces of the front face and the side face. A controlling means is arranged for enlarging dust in the air by making good use of the ultrasonic dust collecting function obtained by irradiating the ultrasonic wave in the air when a human being is sensed by using the element 18 and collecting the enlarged dust.
