PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow even a clerk whose responsible person information is not set in a responsible person table to temporarily operate an article registering operation. SOLUTION: An article sales data processor includes the responsible person table for setting and storing the sign code of a person responsible for the operation to whom a responsible person code is assigned, by responsible person code to be uniquely assigned to each one of a plurality of persons responsible for the operation; and a code input means for inputting the sign code of the person responsible for the operation who actually operates the processor. When the sign code is inputted, the responsible person table is retrieved through the use of the sign code. When the sign code is set, the responsible person is registered by the responsible person code corresponding to the sign code.
