PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately adjust a light receiving timing with a light receiving element for detecting the scanning timing of a laser scanning device. SOLUTION: The laser scanning device is provided with a laser light source 11 which emits a laser beam, deflection scanning means 2 and 3 with which a photoreceptor 4 is scanned with the deflected laser beam, and a light receiving element 12 for detecting the scanning timing of the laser beam by receiving the deflected and scanning laser beam. The laser light source and the light receiving element are mounted as a unit on a substrate 10, and a prism 7 is provided as a transmission optical system which deflects the light axis of the laser beam received with the light receiving element 12 in a direction parallel to the scanning direction. The light receiving timing of the laser beam at the light receiving element 12 is adjustable without dislocating the light axis of the laser light source 11 by varying the deflection direction of the laser beam LB by moving the turning position of the prism 7 or in some other ways.
