PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of optical coupling efficiency deterioration which takes place such that, while outgoing light from a semiconductor laser is coupled with an optical fiber through a lens to turn to a propagation light, a part of the light is unable to be coupled with the optical fiber to become leaked light; that a part of the leaked light passing through the optical fiber is absorbed by the ferrule, and converted to heat; and that, where the output of the semiconductor laser is a high output like a W class, this heat generation is intensified, deforming a component such as a ferrule, causing a positional deviation between the semiconductor laser and the optical fiber, and lowering the optical coupling efficiency. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a semiconductor laser 2, a base 1 and package 4 for supporting this semiconductor laser 2, an optical fiber 5, a holding member 6 for holding the end of this optical fiber 5, and a fixing member 11 for fixing this holding member 6 against the package 4 so that outgoing light from the semiconductor laser 2 is made incident to the end of the optical fiber 5.
